  1. Message and Tracking Spot X versus Spot Gen 3 - Main

    I have owned the original Spot, Spot 2, Spot Gen 3 and now spot X.
    Spot 2 & Gen 3 were much better for sending positions than the original Spot.
    Since upgrading to Spot X, I am finding sending positions to be quite poor. My hit rate was much higher with Spot 2 & Gen 3.
    Sending messages is also a problem. We use Spot X when MTBing in outback areas, where there is no mobile coverage. Sadly, the Spot X has a low success rate for sending positions, and sending text messages has not been good. Most messages just…

  3. Syncing is awful - Main

    There has to be a better way for syncing... my brand new Spot X keeps giving me this error message and I can't get passed 50% of syncing. This is terrible. Please help fix this bug!

  4. Make the screen text larger

    I need a microscope to see read the display. Either use all, large text and ditch the icons, or just use icons that are as large as possible and eliminate the text. SOMETHING. The backlighting is poor. Imagine, in an emergency, in the dark, can't find reading glasses, iphone camera is dead, and I cant read the screen to save my life. It's like you compromised to please everyone, and the result is poor. ALLOW me to pick a GUI format, eg. LARGE TEXT ONLY

  5. Design a SPOT X bag to protect the SPOT X from the water - Main

    My Spot X remains on my deck bag of my kayak while I paddle. Constant sea water spray and immersion make me wonder how well it will stand up to this constant abuse. My previous Gen 3 was also kept in a waterproof nylon bag with a clear window that allowed full function while it was inside. I cannot find a bag designed for the SPOT X that serves the same purpose.

  7. Not sure--haven't used product enough to know.

    Just called ROBERT in Customer Service. He helped identify my update problem as a cable issue. Patient with me and explained what I needed. I ultimately found the right cable and VIOLA--it's all good. He's a genius.

  14. Spot Gen4 Improvements: replacing the batteries without a screwdriver and three-way velcro

    I had a Spot Gen3 and found some weird things on Gen4 that should be improved ASAP, like: to replace batteries or to connect usb cable you’ll have to carry screwdrivers; the velcro holding the clip is too simple, it should be at least three way. That’s a shame!

  16. More robust wiring for Waterproof DC Power Cable for Trace

    I've got 2 SPOT Trace devices wired into my boats' batteries. The wires from the "Waterproof DC Power Cable" accessory are much too light-gauge to be easily used in a boat that may be tossing and bouncing on waves, and bouncing those cables around a bit. I'd like to see something like 18 or 20 gauge wiring used in this accessory, nothing skinnier. I don't know what it is now, but it's pitifully thin wire...maybe 32 gauge?

    This looks like a kick-***, well-designed product. But getting started needs a boost!

    I got stuck on "LED button test" Step 1.

    First, no image describing what the button names are (e.g., the "Track" button). So I downloaded the user guide and saw the button layout on page 6 (SIX!). Who knew track == map pin icon?!

    Then I got stuck on Step 2. Track and Power buttons have a clear detente. I could not push the SOS + Help buttons no matter how hard I pressed. No help on the LED/Button test. Then I found your help videos. No…

  18. Insurance coverage for family

    I am very upset because the insurance provided to me in the past included a family plan. Apparently this new company will have one also but not available now. So my husband is not covered and we are leaving on a wilderness trip. The suggestion to me was to buy a new device for him and he will be covered on that one and be a new account holder. Ridiculous. As I see it, Spot had plenty of time to set this up before the actual transition date. This problem has caused us to consider cancelling our trip altogether but…

  19. Advertise better the app compatibility (only with Android 7 or better)

    I discovered just after the purchase that the Spot X app is only compatible with Android 7 or better. My second smartphone is compatible, but my main smartphone is not. If I hadn't had a second smartphone, that would have made of me a very annoyed customer, and very vocal on the internet. This is not the only problem with the way Spot markets its devices. Please improve your ethics.
