have the spotx device be able to track after pushing the button whether it feels movement or not.
At power on, tracking mode will start automatically, without press the track button. If I want to stop the tracking mode, I'll press the button.
It's a safety device, so it have to safe me from the power on to the power of without pressing other button...
Its important to keep sending location tracking after movement stops. If I hurt myself and cannot use the sos function, I'd like spotx to continually send tracking, especially since current tracking is quite poor and generally doesn't send 10 min updates while moving.
A user can power the device on, watch it light up, and forget to push the "boot" tracking button. This fact makes the GEN3 easier to lose, and less effective for it's intended purpose of locating a person. If you are paranoid of being found, or need to save power, turn it off, or decrease your tracking/waypoint frequency. I'm suggesting omission of the "boot" button, as it should be implied with pressing the power button. The "boot" button unnecessarily expands the margin of error for the occasional user (many users of the GEN3 will be weekend warriors, who don't use this every day or even every week.) Reprogramming an additional feature or custom message in it's place could be beneficial.
I'm having a hard time sending location reliably. I'm using it on a sailboat, it's definitely open to the clear sky with not even canvas over it, but often no location is sent for hours. Quite frustrating!!
Allow the user to disable the suspension. The spot x suspends while sailing even though there is a reasonable amount of swell.
Allow manual adjustment of the accelerometer sensitivity. My recent canoe trip mostly recorded the portages as the Spot X was getting jostled around a fair bit while we carried gear on the trails. If the tracking feature went to pause starting up paddling in the canoe was not enough to wake it back up. If I deliberately shake the Spot X the tracking feature will wake up again but who wants to have to do that all the time? I understand that battery life may suffer if the accelerometer is more sensitive to motion but I'd like my whole trip to show up, not just the walking parts.
I hope you can add a feature on our phones to push a button and force the gps to respond with update location.
My spot x skips updates, up to an hr or two, knowing my car is actually moving from place to place.
